It’s so easy to fall into the trap of working with anyone, especially if you’re a beginner. Yet, as experienced service providers in any industry know, this doesn’t help you at all in the long run. If the fit’s not right from the beginning, you will run yourself ragged and the client will still be unsatisfied at the end of the day. No good will come of this for either one of you!
It’s important to set boundaries from the start. In some cases, you will wind up to have a very productive working relationship with these prospective clients, once they realize that they can’t walk all over you. If that doesn’t happen, don’t hesitate to cut ties when it’s clear that it’s not working out. Either way, it’s critical to leave things on a positive note. Whether I can help someone or not, I want them to leave any interaction with me feeling positive about their experience.
Stop obsessing over how to phase these difficult messages, and make it easy with pre-written templates! The eleven template emails in this document are yours to edit and use without attribution for the next year!
Includes one Microsoft Word file containing the following documents:

Too many educational consultants either allow unlimited client work or fail to charge for overage because the conversation can be uncomfortable.
First, remember that your time is valuable and you need to charge for it.
Second, you should protect yourself by documenting this in writing instead of having a verbal conversation.
Lastly, don’t stress over what to write - use our pre-written templates! I deal with overage in one of two ways depending on the client and our history: I either charge in three-hour increments or move to an ongoing billing system. Some IECs would probably find it easier to stick with one method for everyone. You know your clients best - you pick!
The document is yours to edit and use without attribution for the next year.
Includes one Microsoft Word file containing the following documents:
OVERAGE HOURS CONFIRMATION EMAIL: TEMPLATE A (3 HOURS PAID IN ADVANCE)
OVERAGE HOURS CONFIRMATION EMAIL: TEMPLATE B (BI-WEEKLY RETROACTIVE INVOICES)
I use this every day to complement Asana. It helps me focus on the immediate short term!
You can modify the different sections to fit your own needs and daily pain points. Don’t laugh about the meal sections - I feel so much more at ease all day if I don’t have to stress over what’s for dinner that night!
Includes one Microsoft Word file containing a daily organizer template.
Some of my clients come up with the craziest resume templates. I’m not sure what’s worse: the sloppy half-finished version or 20-page one that mom and dad created, complete with the “outstanding student award” from Pre-K (Don’t laugh. You know you’ve seen it!).
This template is classic, effective, and maxes out at one page. Download it and put it in all of your electronic new client folders, so that they can enter their own information at their convenience. They can change the headings to fit their own experiences, and of course can modify everything else as well!
The document is yours to edit and use without attribution for the next year.
Includes one Microsoft Word file containing a high school student resume template.
This document is a guide that I use for my own graphic standards and it serves as a perfect template for you to use to create your own graphic standards guide after you swap in your own practice’s logo, color scheme, and font scheme.
(It’s hard to explain, but you NEED this if you don’t have a graphic standards guide. Trust me. This is definitely the most-used part of my handbook and probably my most-used document of all in terms of day-to-day dependence on it! You will wonder how the heck you ran a business without one of these).
You can see how I have specific headings that I use, the order in which I use them, and so forth. The guide template is yours to edit and use without attribution for the next year, but my logo, color scheme, and fonts are not yours to copy. They serve as place filler in the guide template.
TO BE EXTRA-CLEAR SINCE THIS IS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER TEMPLATES You are purchasing the rights to use the very helpful graphic standards guide template, not my logo or color scheme. You need to insert your own logo, color scheme, and fonts into this template. Please respect this and don’t put me in a tough position, but know that I will pursue any and all intellectual property violations to the fullest extent of the law.
Includes one Microsoft Word file containing a template for a graphic standards guide.
Sick of nagging? Ugh! Us too! There’s no email template to stop teenagers from being teenagers, but the reminders will be much more palatable with pre-written reminders that you can send with a click of a button!
Our template emails will provide a reminder sequence to keep students on track. By asking them to weigh in on their own due dates, they will be more likely to take ownership and follow through.
WHAT IS IT?
One editable Microsoft Word file containing four student template emails and one parent template email.
WHO IS IT FOR?
These emails should be sent to students that have missed internal deadlines that you have provided.
WHAT IS IT NOT?
This does not provide information to deal with students missing actual college deadlines. We’ve never had that problem yet because we get everything done WAY beforehand - this bundle of email templates helps to make sure of that!

As you begin to scale your business, you need to provide your employees and independent contractors with an operations manual for guidance on tasks and policies. The ideal operations manual is very extensive and would detail every small detail or instruction that lives inside your head! Get started with the introductory components: you can either pass this out to your staff as a temporary manual with must-know critical information, or combine it with all of our other documents (graphic standards, application guides, templates, so on) for a more extensive manual.
WHAT IS IT?
One editable Microsoft Word file containing a model for the introductory components of an operations manual. It also includes sample external and internal best practice policies for an IEC to adopt and share with their own team.
WHO IS IT FOR?
IECs can use this manual to standardize their operations and policies for team members. IECs without team members can still use it to record emergency information.
WHAT IS IT NOT?
This does not provide every single component of an operations manual, which can be hundreds of pages long!

Tired of dealing with emails over the holiday season or tracking down the seniors that go MIA in the spring? Use our email templates to keep the seniors on task while you focus your energy to the junior class ahead!
Our December - May senior email template bundle will set expectations and keep seniors on task with where they need to be - WITHOUT adding more tasks to your plate.
WHAT IS IT?
One editable Microsoft Word file containing fourteen pages of email templates for monthly check-ins. It includes separate versions for assistants and IECs, depending on which member of the team is checking in. It also includes separate reminders for ED Admits and those who are still deciding!

Stop causing yourself and your clients unnecessary stress! You can spread most of the college application workload out over a year-long period. Our students begin filling out their applications during September of their junior year and finish their last supplemental essays before their senior year begins. We adjust the timing for clients that start later, but stick to the same plan.
Not only do you get our time-tested process, it’s in an editable format that you can share with your own clients during your consultations or meetings.

One editable Microsoft Word file containing our Class of 2021 Meeting Plan and Schedule Template. You can copy my process or adjust it to fit your own needs.

I use it with all of my own clients because I think it’s fantastic! However, you are not able to use my copyrighted PDF version legally, which is why I have uploaded an editable version with a limited commercial use license for your use here.
